If you’re an entrepreneur, you might know that the offering, the product or service you’re bringing to the world is the heart of your business.
It’s the gift from which you source the courage to bring a new story into the world.
When one sources from a regenerative paradigm when creating their offerings - it can feel like anything is possible.
Connecting to the beautiful potential that’s present when we connect to the world, our places, and our projects as living beings exposes an ocean of possibility.
This ocean - or potential that doesn’t exist but feels tangible and grounded - can make tangible next steps feel not as certain or motivating, leading to an endless loop of thinking, planning, lightly engaging, and returning to thinking.
This thought-loop doesn’t tend to contribute towards tangible execution and refinement. Every conversation opens three new directions. Every framework suggests another layer to consider.
The work matters deeply, which makes choosing where to focus for the next step can feel impossible without the right tools and discipline.
During our recent “Creating a Thriving Offering Through EarthWise Design” workshop, we covered a process that helps you:
refine your thinking around the assumptions that are crucial to your success,
take action that drives learning, and
reflect to evolve not just as a business, but as a founder and role as a regenerative force in the world.
In this process, we’re balance two key forces: the paradigm that shaped entrepreneurship and the emerging paradigm of regeneration.
The Dance We Navigate: Fast Learning and Deep Relationship
The startup world tells us: test quickly, fail fast, iterate based on data. Prioritize speed to market. Experiment quickly. Create things that scale. Move, move, move.
The regenerative world tells us: slow down, build relationships, let trust develop at the speed of place. Depth over velocity. Develop offerings that source from your unique context. Root before branching.
Both fields bring helpful wisdom to pull from.
The magic happens when we weave them together with intention.
First, We Get Rooted
When I first discovered the world of regenerative design and development, it felt like swimming in an ocean of potential - with little energy going into a grounding into present capabilities and real-world constraints.
In this space, especially as a creative or thoughtful person, it can feel nearly impossible to see the next tangible step forward. The potential of a first step spirals upwards until it becomes an entire platform to enable regeneration across the world. Then taking the first step feels overwhelming.
So if you’re in the process of designing or launching an offering - we invite you to start simple:
What are you actually working on right now?
Not the vision three years out. Not all the possibilities you’re considering.
What product or service are you actively launching?
And more importantly:
What’s the context?
What industry, system, or place does your offering exist within?
How is that context shaping what you’re building?
For RegenEarth Studio, this looks like: working at the intersection of regenerative and entrepreneurial fields through EarthWise Entrepreneur and the Nexus, rooted in the Rocky Mountain and Sonoran bioregions while welcoming people globally. We’re seeing growing interest in regenerative approaches, but funding scarcity and the extractive nature of current economic culture restrict our spread. This reality is pushing us toward more collective, interdependent ways of working with other organizations in the field.
We invite you to share in the comments - what are you offering or creating right now? How does your context shape it?
The EarthWise Entrepreneur: Four Pillars for Holistic Development
Once you’re rooted, you can start to develop the whole system your offering needs to thrive.
Through working with dozens of entrepreneurs, we’ve surfaced four connected pillars that weave together for regenerative businesses to emerge:
Business Excellence: The practical systems that make your offering work in the real world - team, market, operations, and product.
Inner Coherence: Deep alignment with your essential values, ensuring your work emanates from your authentic center.
Earth-Sourced Leadership: Sourcing how you exist, organize, and make decisions from Earth’s wisdom - creating space for your team and partners to test, launch, and evolve with integrity.
Living Systems Thinking: Connecting your work to the potential of living systems around you, sensing the ripple effects across the web of life.
We invite you to engage in reflection across these pillars wherever you’re most comfortable:
From where you are right now,
What does the next step of business success actually look like?
What does it feel and look like when you’re delivering from your authentic essence?
What kind of leader does your offering require you to become in order to deliver it with integrity?
What shifts in your place and larger system do you see occurring if your offering is successful?
Even in a short 10 minute reflection, people felt the pillars starting to help them move towards clarity:
“It helped me look at the real things, the essence of what is calling me now”
“Very often, finding myself caught up in the “doing” of the work makes it difficult to remember the important “being”. Reflecting on these questions both expands my perspective, and reminds me of the bigger picture.”
“Pragmatic to go through this list. And I realize the simple things (business taxes, org folder, website) are hard for me…the true to self, and the earth based is so clear and obvious to me. Creating and adopting change, being non-defensive, responsive, curious, and joyful…yes! Let’s go!!”
Do you want a container to work on these pillars to evolve your self, your business, and your living system - alongside other entrepreneurs walking the same regenerative path?
If so, we invite you to explore the EarthWise Entrepreneur.
You can take the next step by joining the Masterclass or Info Session we’re hosting next week:
After we gain awareness on the key pillars of development that underly success in our work, we can start testing assumptions.
This is where the action, the joy, and messiness of the real world comes in.
Your Assumptions Are Your Path to Success
Every offering is built on assumptions.
You assume people will pay a certain price.
You assume your approach will create the value regenerative effects you envision.
You assume you can deliver with your current capacity.
You assume you / your team can hold the complexity.
Adaptive thinking means consciously testing what we believe to be true against reality’s feedback. This is how we evolve offerings with intelligence.
We expanded the proven Lean Startup methodology (which thousands of companies have used to scale) by making it multidimensional.
Business Assumptions - What must be true for this to work economically?
Coherence Assumptions - What must be true for this work to be coherent with your core values, principles, and beliefs?
Leadership Assumptions - What must be true to create a vitalizing and developmental field with your team?
Living Systems Assumptions - What must be true for this to create regenerative impact in the living systems around you?
First, we identify assumptions. Then we test through launches. But when we say “launch” - it might not be what you think.
Launching as an Exercise for Growing Capability
Before we dive in to why launching is so beneficial - It’s important to make something clear.
Launching doesn’t always mean bringing a new offering to the world.
Sometimes, it might be a series of conversations that tests assumptions of who your customer is and what they’re working towards.
Or, it could be a workshop you host that tests assumptions around how you might deliver your offering.
For Silvi, one of their first big launches was an in-depth collaboration with farmers in the Kakamega forest, testing the core organizing process for local reforestation and the interface of the app. Before that, it was the founder testing the app in his backyard.
For Conscious Living Collective who joined our Bootcamp, they’re cultivating a web of relationships and having conversations to get to their first launch - the first 3d printed house.
When exercised constantly, launching makes you stronger as an entrepreneur, as a human, and as a regenerative practitioner.
The rhythm matters: small experiments when capacity is tight, bigger bets when you have spaciousness. You don’t want to launch in a way that feels stressful or burnout inducing.
You’re not always going big - you’re learning to match your testing to your resources.
Here’s what launching gives you:
Action Through Fear - Move past the fear of failure that stops so many regenerative entrepreneurs from taking action.
Opportunities to Engage With Place - Develop direct, embodied knowledge that only comes from real-world engagement.
Build Deep Relationships - Launches hold the potential to act as vehicles for cultivating trust-based partnerships that become the foundation for lasting success.
Learn and Earn - Launches enable you to deepen knowledge while creating revenue opportunities simultaneously.
On the flip side:
The less you launch → the less you learn → the fewer relationships you build → the less money flows in
Break the cycle by starting now.
Here’s the exercise we did in the workshop - we invite you to take some time to reflect on these:
What are the core assumptions that, if proven wrong, would lead to failure of your offering as a viable business? What must be true for this to work economically?
What are the core assumptions that, if proven wrong, would lead to failure of your offering as a force for regeneration? What must be true for this to create the systemic impact you envision?
What might you launch in the next 3 months (maximum) that would test your top assumption(s)? Think specific, tangible, doable given your current resources.
The insights that emerged weren’t just about business models. They were about identity, capacity, and the courage to test what we believe against what’s actually true.
